WHO WE ARE ...
Institute of Food Technology - FINS is one of the leading institutions in food and feed research and dissemination of knowledge in Serbia and the Balkan region. FINS has about 100 employees, half of them researchers. FINS laboratories conduct analysis of food and feed using sensory, physical and rheological, chemical, microanalytical and microbiological methods. FINS has sophisticated laboratory equipment, e.g. LC-triple quadrupole MS; LC equipped with DAD, FLD and ELSD; GC-MS; GC-FID, ECD; protein bioanalyser on chip; modular advanced rheometric system (shear, dynamic, oscillatory and extensional rheology), thus bringing it to the level of the best equipped laboratories in the region. FINS has also a sound experience in providing different services to the food and feed industry in the region, including development of products and processes, stuff training, consultation and support. There are several pilot plants at FINS for development of new technologies and products, testing of raw materials, training and demonstration. Beside the feed processing pilot plant, which will be reinforced through funded FP7-REGPOT-3 project FEED-TO-FOOD, there are also pilot plants for baking, milling, meet processing, fruit and vegetables processing and pasta production. FINS is a bilingual speaking (Serbian and English) institution.!

OUR VISION ...
FINS is a modern, stable, development-oriented institution, highly visible in European and global research and widely present and influential among stakeholders in the region.

WHAT WE DO …
The main research areas in which FINS and its acredited FINSLAb are actively conducting high level research and permanently strengthening its research potentials are:
- Food technologies, especially cereal processing technologies (baking, milling, extrusion and pasta production), meat processing, sugar technology, feed technology, fruit and vegetables technologies…
- Animal feed technology, research, quality control, standardization
- Raw material quality and safety (cereals, including alternative cereals, sugar beet, fruit and vegetables, animal feed, meat etc.)
- Functional food products (development and analysis of food products with different functional properties)
- Research, certification and popularization of quality food products linked to geographical origin and traditions in Serbia
- Rheology and microstructure of food products and food components.
- Tracing and determination of different contaminants in the feed/food chain
- Standardization of food products (traditional, organic etc.)
- Consumer related issues (protection, education, satisfaction...)
- Environmental issues, monitoring and preservation

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION …
Our Institute has a good cooperation with many partners and institutions inside and outside Europe. Currently, we participate in the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7) in following projects:
FP7REGPOT-2007-3 FEED TO FOOD Reinforcement of feed to food research center at Institute of Food Technology of the University of Novi Sad – Project coordinator
COST FA0802 – FEED FOR HEALTH member of consortium
FP7 Project KBBE-2010-4 : CHANCE-Low cost technologies and traditional ingredients for the production of affordable, nutritionally correct, convenient foods enhancing health in population groups at risk of poverty – member of consortium
FP7 FOODSEG-Safe food for Europe – Coordination of research activities and dissemination of research results of EC funded research on food safety – member of consortium
